About Plan
How long will it take?

It takes about two hours for the whole process from your visit to YUMEYAKATA to your leave the shop. (*W Plan takes three hours) However, depending on the reservation condition you may need to wait a little longer than schedule. Please ask for your forgiveness.
【Process】
1) Please fill out the application form at the waiting room. We will explain the process. (about 10 min.)
2) Makeup and Photo shoot (about 40~50 min.)
・At the makeup room : makeup (about 20~25 min.)
・At the dressing room : dress-up (about 10~20 min. including wig setting)
・At the studio : photo shoot (about 10 min. per one person)
3) The staff help you take off kimono and wig, and remove your makeup.
Q
Do I need to bring anything with me?

1) Please bring your makeup tools. After our removing your makeup, we will put you on maiko/geiko makeup. After finishing the experience of the change, you need your makeup kit. We don't prepare a makeup kit for general use.
2)If you wear contact lenses, please don’t forget to bring the case. You are required to take out your contact lenses temporarily when you makeup.
Is there any age limit?

No. There is no age limit. You can enjoy Maiko/Geiko experience at any age. Once we have had a customer who did Maiko experience to celebrate her 90th birthday. So please don’t worry.
Maiko plan for children is for child age over five (height 100cm~).
Q
Can I go outside in Maiko/Geiko costume?
A
We are sorry. Going outside is not allowed. Our Maiko/Geiko experience plan is mainly photo shoot in the studio.
Is there any plan for child?

A child(with the height of 100 cm) can experience from five years. Basically we use wig. If the wig is too big and doesn't fit for his/her figure, we will do his/her hair up in the maiko style. In this case, charge for hairdressing will be charged.
Please check following items in advance.
・The length of hair from the bottom of ear and down the neck from the neck needs to be about five centimeters.
・Doing his/her hair up is more comfortable than wearing a wig.
・When you make reservation for child, please write down his/her age, height and length of hair (ex. short hair)
The way to wear costume is genuine same as one for adult. How about a memory of his/her birthday or family tour

About Makeup
What is the defference between Maiko and Geiko makeup?

Maiko is an apprentice geiko. Makeup, attire and wig are different between maiko and geiko. So when you make reservation, please let us know your desire because our preparations will be different.
For example, as to the makeup we finish it with the image which maiko is cute and innocent and geiko is tight and sexy. In specifically, the way to draw eyebrows , the way to put on lipstick and a color of lipstick are different. And as to dressing, The way to tie sash is a big difference. Maiko wear sash called "Darari-obi" and Geiko "Otaiko." As to wig, Maiko wear wig called "Wareshinobu".
What is "Han Katsura" in the options?

It is the hair styling with your own bangs and side hair. Han katsura is a very popular option because it makes the hairline more natural compared to full wig. However, the length of your bangs needs to be under the nose and reach your sholder on the side.
※It's not available for customers who have a shaggy haircut and a perm.
※Customers with dyed hair will be able to make hair black color with washable hairdye spray.
※Han katsura is exclusively for maiko plan.
About Photo taking
Can I receive photo print on the day?

We'll hand it over on the day. If your reserved date is very busy, we may send it to you by mail at a later date. If such an occasion arises, thank you for your understanding.
Can I bring in my own camera?
Q

Yes, you can. You can bring in your own camera. Please enjoy taking a lot of photos.
However you are requested to refrain from taking photo at the studio and the makeup room.

What are the terms of payment?

Cash or credit card(※amount should be more than 500yen.) VISA, MasterCard, JCB, AMERICAN EXPRESS[AMEX], DINERS cards, and China UnionPay are acceptable.
Is there a waiting room for men?

Yes, there is a waiting room for men.
The dressing service for men is available. We are highly recommend you to take photo together at the precious opportunity.
Can I wear kimono during pregnancy?

We are not accepting the order of maiko/geiko experience for pregnant customers, considering their unexpected change of their physical conditions. However, if they strongly wish the maiko/geiko experience based on their own judgement, we will accept their offer on their own responsibility. If any trouble arises, YUMEYAKATA will disclaim all the responsibility. Please understand our intention and sign an oath when you visit our shop.
I left my belongings behind at the shop.

We will keep a lost article for one month at YUMEYAKATA. However, when the period is over, we will dispose it. Your understanding is required.
※Perishable food will be disposed at once.
※If you wish to mail your lost article,shipping costs will be borne by a customer.
